This post is about layering Pigment printing with Puff binder. Also I will include more Puff binder samples I have carried out in class.
This image below shows a mixture of both techniques; to produce this sample I started by dyeing an A3 piece of cotton fabric, the Procion dye I used for this was Orange MX2R. Once the fabric had dried I pressed it using the heat press for 20 seconds on 180 degrees C and went on to wash any excess Procion dye out of the fabric. Once the fabric had re dried I used my screen to Pigment print my design on the cotton, the pigments I chose to use were Black SN-G and Red BB (I mixed these to make the sample more effective). Finally once the Pigment and screen had dried I started to print the Puff binder; I coloured the binder using Pink 5BTL; once I had cleaned my area and screen, I exposed the puff binder to the heat gun, where the binder began to rise. I was extremely pleased with how this sample turned out, and it has become one of my favorites of which I have produced so far. I continued to use colours that link with my mood boards and visual sheets, which I think also all work well together.
The Images below show another sample I have produced using only puff binder. I printed onto Black card using puff binder that I coloured with Pink 5BTL.
These next images show the process of the puff binder rising with it being exposed to the heat gun. Each image shows a different stage of the design being exposed.
I love this colour on the black background as it really expresses the design and the lines I have used. Even though the puff binder didn't rise like it does on fabric it still gave a texture to the sample.
