Puff Binder.

Puff binder can produce 3D effects on garments when heat is applied to it. The binder can be coloured using colorants but only pastel shades can be achieved.

I carried out this technique on a slim piece of paper and a piece of A4 fabric; I used both to simply show how the puff binder will print and rise on different materials.

I mixed the binder with the Pink 5BTL and Turquoise 4G colourants; to avoid clogging the design on my screen I made sure the mix wasn't too thick. This image below is after I had printed onto the fabric and before any heat was applied. To ensure the screen does not clog afterwards I washed it before the heat was applied to the print.

This next image is my Puff Binder print towards the end of the process where most of the binder has risen. You can see that the colour has turned out light.

Out of all the screen printing techniques Puff Binder is my favourite, I love the texture it brings to the design and 3D effect it carries.
